MINUTES OF PROCEEDINGS

Meeting No. 1

Tuesday, November 2, 1999

The Sub-Committee on Agenda and Procedure of the Standing Committee on Public Accounts met in camera at 3:30 p.m. this day, in Room 536, Wellington Building, the Vice-Chair, John Richardson, presiding.

Members of the Sub-Committee present: Steve Mahoney, Beth Phinney, John Richardson, Benoît Sauvageau.

Acting Member present: Paul Forseth for John Williams.

In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Jean Dupuis; Brian O'Neal, Research Officers.

The Committee began to discuss its future business.

It was agreed, - That the Committee hold meetings in relation to the following topics during the month of November:

  • Chapter 6 and Chapter 10 of the April 1999 Report of the Auditor General of Canada,
  • Public Accounts of Canada, 1998-1999,
  • Annual Performance Report of the Office of the Auditor General of Canada, for the period ending March 31, 1999,
  • Report of the Auditor General of Canada, April 1999, Other Audit Observations, pp. 23 – 26 (National Defence and Health Canada: Non-compliance with conditions and inadequate monitoring with respect to pre – licencing of an anti-malarial drug [mefloquine]),
  • Chapter 1 (Correctional Services Canada - (Reintegration of Offenders) from the April 1999 Report of the Auditor General of Canada.

At 4:06 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
