Meeting No. 8

Tuesday, May 30, 2000

The Sub-Committee on Private Members' Business of the Standing Committee on Procedure and House Affairs met at 3:30 p.m. this day, in Room 306, West Block, the Chair, Larry McCormick, presiding.

Members of the Sub-Committee present: David Chatters, Joe Jordan and Larry McCormick.

Acting Members present: Gerald Keddy for Norman Doyle; Suzanne Tremblay for Madeleine Dalphond-Guiral.

In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: James Robertson, Research Officer.

Witnesses: From the House of Commons: Paul Crête, Bernard Bigras, Jim Pankiw, Rick Casson, Ken Epp for Garry Breitkreuz, Scott Brison and Steve Mahoney.

Pursuant to the Order of Reference from the Standing Committee on Procedure and House Affairs adopted on Tuesday, October 19, 1999, the Sub-Committee proceeded to select votable items from bills and motions whose order of precedence has been established on Thursday, May 18, 2000.

The witnesses made statements and answered questions.

At 4:42 p.m., the sitting continued "in camera" to consider a draft report concerning Standing Order 87(6).

At 5:00 p.m., the Sub-Committee adjourned until Thursday, June 1, 2000, at 8:30 a.m.
