Meeting No. 6

Tuesday, May 30, 2000

The Sub-Committee on Organized Crime of the Standing Committee on Justice and Human Rights met in camera at 9:37 a.m. this day, in Room 209, West Block, the Chair, Paul DeVillers, presiding.

Members of the Sub-Committee present: Jim Abbott, Michel Bellehumeur, Paul DeVillers, John Maloney, Jacques Saada and Andy Scott.

Other Members present: Pierrette Venne and Réal Ménard.

In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Lynn Casavant, Researcher; Philip Rosen, Senior Analyst.

Witnesses: From the House of Commons: Robert Marleau, Clerk of the House; MGen. G. Cloutier, Sergeant-at-Arms; Michel Thivierge, Director, Security Services; Rob Walsh, Law Clerk and Parliamentary Counsel.

Pursuant to its Order of Reference dated Tuesday, November 30, 1999, a study of organized crime.

The witnesses briefed the Sub-Committee on various aspects of the execution of its Order of Reference.

At 11:03 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 11:10 a.m., the sitting resumed.

At 11:49 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
