MINUTES OF PROCEEDINGS
Meeting No. 4
Wednesday, May 17, 2000
The Sub-Committee on Organized Crime of the Standing Committee on Justice and Human Rights met in camera at 3:35 p.m. this day, in Room 308, West Block, the Chair, Paul DeVillers, presiding.
Members of the Sub-Committee present: Jim Abbott, Paul DeVillers, Peter MacKay, John Maloney, John McKay, Jacques Saada and Andy Scott.
Acting Member present: Réal Ménard for Michel Bellehumeur.
In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Lynn Casavant, Researcher; Philip Rosen, Senior Analyst.
Pursuant to its Order of Reference dated Tuesday, November 30, 1999, a study of organized crime.
The Sub-Committee proceeded to consider its future business.
It was agreed, - That the order for questioning of witnesses be as follows:
1st round:
CA: 7 minutes Government: 7 minutes
BQ: 7 minutes Government: 7 minutes
NDP: 7 minutes Government: 5 minutes
PC: 7 minutes Government: 5 minutes
And that the Opposition be entitled to 4 rounds of 7 minutes regardless of their number.
2nd round:
Same order, all Parties: 5 minutes
It was agreed, - That forty-eight (48) hours notice be given to the members of the Sub-Committee before any substantive motion is considered by the Sub-Committee unless the Sub-Committee gives consent otherwise.
It was agreed, - That the Chair be authorized to hold meetings to receive evidence when a quorum is not present provided that at least three (3) members are present, including a member of the Opposition.
At 5:15 p.m., the Sub-Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
