Thursday, February 24, 2000
The Standing Committee on Justice and Human Rights met at 12:25 p.m. this day, in Room 209, West Block, the Vice-Chair, Ivan Grose, presiding.
Members of the Committee present: Chuck Cadman, Aileen Carroll, Ivan Grose, Peter MacKay, John Maloney and Jacques Saada.
In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Philip Rosen, Senior Analyst.
Witnesses: From the Children of the Street: Diane Sowden; David Oborne, Youth Justice Education Partnership. From the University of Victoria: James C. Hackler.
Pursuant to its Order of Reference of Tuesday, November 23, 1999, the Committee resumed consideration of Bill C-3, An Act in respect of criminal justice for young persons and to amend and repeal other Acts (See Minutes of Proceedings, Tuesday, November 30, 1999 , Meeting No. 5).
The witnesses made opening statements and answered questions.
At 1:12 p.m., the sitting was suspended.
At 1:42 p.m., the sitting resumed.
At 2:30 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
