Meeting No. 4

Thursday, April 22, 1999

The Sub-Committee on Tax Equity for Canadian Families with Dependent Children of the Standing Committee on Finance met at 11:40 a.m. this day, in Room 237-C, Centre Block, the Chair, Nick Discepola, presiding.

Members of the Sub-Committee present: Serge Cardin, Nick Discepola, Michelle Dockrill, John Herron, Karen Redman and Paul Szabo.

Acting Member present: Carolyn Bennett for George Baker.

In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Marion Wrobel, Senior Analyst.

Witnesses: From the Carleton University: Frances Woolley, Associate Professor, Department of Economics. From the Tristat Resources: Richard Shillington.

Pursuant to the motion adopted by the Standing Committee on Finance, dated March 17, 1999, the Sub-Committee resumed its study on Tax Fairness for Canadian Families with Dependent Children.

Frances Woolley and Richard Shillington made statements and answered questions.

At 12:55 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
