Meeting No. 2

Tuesday, April 20, 1999

The Sub-Committee on Tax Equity for Canadian Families with Dependent Children of the Standing Committee on Finance met at 3:36 p.m. this day, in Room 237-C, Centre Block, the Chair, Nick Discepola, presiding.

Members of the Sub-Committee present: Nick Discepola, Michelle Dockrill, Paul Forseth, Rey Pagtakhan, Karen Redman and Paul Szabo.

Acting Member present: Yvan Loubier for Serge Cardin

Other Member present: Marlene Jennings.

In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Marion Wrobel.

Witnesses: From the Status of Women Canada: Florence Ievers, Co-ordinator; Sheila Regehr, Economic Policy Coordinator, Policy Analysis and Development and External Relations Directorate; Zeynep Karman, Director, Research; Jackie Claxton, Director General, Women's Program and Regional Operations.

Pursuant to the motion adopted by the Standing Committee on Finance, dated March 17, 1999, the Sub-Committee resumed its study on Tax Fairness for Canadian Families.

Florence Ievers and Sheila Regehr made statements and, with the other witnesses, answered questions.

At 5:25 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
