The Sub-Committee on Tax Equity for Canadian Families with Dependent Children of the Standing Committee on Finance met at 9:09 a.m. this day, in Commons Rooms, Holiday Inn Select Halifax Centre, Halifax, the Chair, Nick Discepola, presiding.
Members of the Sub-Committee present:, Serge Cardin, Nick Discepola, Michelle Dockrill, Paul Forseth and Paul Szabo.
Acting Member present: Scott Brison for John Herron.
In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Julie Cusson, Analyst.
Witnesses: As Individuals: Maureen MacDonald, M.L.A., NDP Social Services Critic; Jennifer Auld-Cameron; Ed Harris. From the Annapolis Valley-Hants Community Action Program for Children: Pauline Raven, Regional Coordinator. From the Cape Breton Family Resources Centre: Joanna Latulippe-Rochon. From the Anti-Poverty Network Halifax: Tay Landry, Member; Susan Le Fort, Member. As Individual: Mary Boyd, Social Worker.
Pursuant to the motion adopted by the Standing Committee on Finance, dated March 17, 1999, the Sub-Committee resumed its study on Tax Fairness for Canadian Families with Dependent Children
Maureen MacDonald, M.L.A., made an opening statement and answered questions.
Jennifer Auld-Cameron and Ed Harris made opening statement and answered questions.
Pauline Raven from the Annapolis Valley-Hants Community Action Program for Children and Joanna Latulippe-Rochon from the Cape Breton Family Resources Centre made opening statements and answered questions.
Tay Landry and Susan Le Fort from the Anti-Poverty Network Halifax and May Boyd made opening statements and answered questions.
At 12:37 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
