The Sub-Committee on International Trade, Trade Disputes and Investment of the Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Trade met at 3:53 p.m. this day, in Room 362, East Block, the Chair, Sarmite Bulte, presiding.
Members of the Sub-Committee present: Sarmite Bulte, Murray Calder and Benoît Sauvageau.
In attendance: From the Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: Daniel Shaw, Research Officer.
Witnesses: From Industry Canada - Competition Bureau: Patricia Smith, Deputy Director of Investigation and Research, Economics and International Affairs Branch. From Expetro International OGPC Ltd.: Annette Hester, Associate Consultant, Regional Coordinator. From Gildan Activewear Inc.: H. Greg Chamandy, Chairman & Chief Executive Officer. From GE Canada: Robert Weese, Vice-President, Government & External Relations; John A.M. Wilson, Consultant, Government Relations.
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee resumed its examination of Canada's priority interests in the FTAA process. (See Minutes of Proceedings of Wednesday, May 5, 1999, Meeting No. 18)
The witnesses made opening statements and answered questions.
At 5:25 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
