The Sub-Committee on International Trade, Trade Disputes and Investment of the Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Trade met at 4:09 p.m. this day, in Room 705, La Promenade Building, the Chair, Sarmite Bulte, presiding.
Members of the Sub-Committee present: Sarmite Bulte, Murray Calder, Raymonde Folco and Benoît Sauvageau.
Acting Member present: Deepak Obhrai for Charlie Penson.
In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Dan Shaw, Research Officer.
Witnesses: From The Mining Association of Canada: Gordon Peeling, President and Chief Executive Officer. From the Canadian Pulp and Paper Association: Joel Neuheimer, Manager, Market Access. From the Canadian Environmental Law Association: Michelle Swenarchuk, Director of International Programmes. From the Canadian Cancer Society: Rob Cunningham, Senior Policy Analyst.
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee resumed its examination of Canada's priority interests in the FTAA process. (See Minutes of Proceedings of May 5, 1998, Meeting 18).
The witnesses made statements and answered questions.
At 5:38 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
