Meeting No. 25

Tuesday, March 9, 1999

The Sub-Committee on International Trade, Trade Disputes and Investment of the Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Trade met at 3:35 p.m. this day, in Room 208, West Block, the Chair, Sarmite Bulte, presiding.

Members of the Sub-Committee present: Sarmite Bulte, Murray Calder, Raymonde Folco, Benoît Sauvageau, Bob Speller.

Acting Member present: Deepak Obhrai for Charlie Penson.

Other Member present : Bill Graham.

In attendance: From theParliamentary Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: Daniel Dupras, Research Officer.

Witnesses: From the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade: George Haynal, Assistant Deputy Minister - Americas; Paul Durand, Director General, Latin America and Caribbean Bureau; Bob Clark, Senior Coordinator of Hemisphere Summits. From the Canadian International Development Agency: Bob Anderson, Vice-President, Americas.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Sub-Committee continued its examination of Canada's priority interests in the FTAA process. (See Minutes of Proceedings of February 4, 1999, Meeting 87).

George Haynal made an opening statement and, with Bob Clark, Bob Anderson and Paul Durand, answered questions.

At 5:00 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
