Thursday, February 11, 1999

The Sub-Committee on International Trade, Trade Disputes and Investment of the Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Trade met at 11:15 a.m. this day, in Room 701, La Promenade Building, the Chair, Sarmite Bulte, presiding.

Members of the Sub-Committee present: Sarmite Bulte, Raymonde Folco, Charlie Penson, Benoît Sauvageau.

In attendance: From the Parliamentary Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: Dan Shaw and Peter Berg, Research Officers.

Witnesses: From the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade: Claude Carrière, Director, Tariffs and Market Access Division; Kathryn McCallion, Assistant Deputy Minister, International Business, Passport and Consular Affairs.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), examination of Canada's priority interests in the FTAA process (See Minutes of Proceedings of February 4, 1999, Meeting 87).

Kathryn McCallion made a statement and, with Claude Carrière, answered questions.

At 12:45 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
