MINUTES OF PROCEEDINGS

Meeting No. 20

Tuesday, November 24, 1998

The Sub-Committee on International Trade, Trade Disputes and Investment met in camera at 3:35 p.m. o'clock this day, in Room 536, Wellington Building, the Chair, Sarmite Bulte, presiding.

Members of the Sub-Committee present: Sarmite Bulte, Murray Calder, Charlie Penson, Benoît Sauvageau.

In attendance: From the Parliamentary Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: Gerry Schmitz and Daniel Dupras, Research Officers.

The Sub-Committee considered future business.

It was the consensus of Members present, --That the Chair consult with the Chair of the Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Trade on the schedule of hearings on WTO negociations.

Members also discussed possible hearings on:

  • WTO and Culture Review of Cultural SAGIT Report
  • OECD Anti-Corruption Convention
  • Free Trade Area of the Americas (FTAA)
  • Review of the Export Development Consultant's Report due in the Spring 1999.
  • European Free Trade Agreement (EFTA)
  • Softwood Lumber Agreement with United States

At 4:02 p.m. o'clock, the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
