MINUTES OF PROCEEDINGS (Meeting No. 2) Tuesday, November 4, 1997 The Sub-Committee on International Trade, Trade Disputes and Investment met in a televised session at 3:22 o’clock p.m., this day, in room 253-D, Centre Block, the Chair, Bob Speller, presiding. Members of the Committee present: William Blaikie, Scott Brison, Sarmite Bulte, Raymonde Folco, Robert Nault, Charlie Penson, Julian Reed, Benoît Sauvageau, Bob Speller. Other members present: Bill Graham and Aileen Carroll. In attendance: From the Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: Daniel Shaw, Peter Berg and Gerald Schmitz, Research Officers. Appearing: The Honourable Sergio Marchi, Minister of International Trade. Witnesses: From the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade : William Dymond, MAI, Chief Negociator. Pursuant to its Order of Reference from the Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Trade (See Minutes of October 23, 1997 – Meeting No. 4) the Sub-Committee commenced it’s study of the Multilateral Agreement on Investment. The Minister made an opening statement and with William Dymond, answered questions. At 4:56 o’clock p.m., the Sub-Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair. |
