Thursday, November 27, 1997
The Sub-Committee on International Trade, Trade Disputes and Investment met at
3:21 o’clock p.m., this day, in Room 253-D, the Chair, Bob Speller, presiding.
Members of the Committee present: William Blaikie, Scott Brison, Sarmite Bulte, Robert Nault, Charlie Penson, Julian Reed, Benoît Sauvageau, Bob Speller.
In attendance: From the Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: Daniel Shaw, Peter Berg and Gerald Schmitz, Research Office; Dr. Christopher Maule, Consultant.
Witnesses: From the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade: William Dymond, Chief Negotiator, MAI, Blair Hankey, Associate General Counsel, Trade Law Division.
Pursuant to its Order of Reference from the Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Trade (See Minutes of October 23, 1997 – Meeting No. 4), the Sub-Committee resumed its study of the Multilateral Agreement on Investment.
The witnesses answered questions.
At 5:18 o’clock p.m. the sitting was suspended.
At 5:22 o’clock p.m. the sitting resumed in camera.
The Committee considered matters related to future meetings.
At 5:38 o’clock p.m., the Sub-Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
