Tuesday, April 13, 1999
The Sub-Committee on Children & Youth at Risk of the Standing Committee on Human Resources Development and the Status of Persons with Disabilities met at 3:35 p.m. this day, in Room 306, West Block, the Chair, John Godfrey, presiding.
Members of the Sub-Committee present: Libby Davies, Christiane Gagnon, John Godfrey, Rey Pagtakhan.
Acting Members present: Bonnie Brown for Maria Minna; Carolyn Bennett for Ovid Jackson.
In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Sandra Harder and Bill Young, Research Officers.
Witnesses: From the Caledon Institute: Ken Battle, Director. From the National Council of Welfare: John Murphy, Chairperson; Armand Brun, Vice-Chairperson; Steve Kerstetter, Director; Joanne Roulston, Senior Researcher and Policy Advisor.
Pursuant to Standing Order 108 (2) the Sub-Committee resumed its study relating to issues regarding the future of children and youth in Canada.
Ken Battle, John Murphy and Armand Brun made statements and with the other witnesses answered questions.
At 5:08 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
