TUESDAY, MAY 26, 1998

The Standing Committee on National Defence and Veterans Affairs met at 3:45 o’clock p.m., this day, in Room 269, West Block, the Chair, Robert Bertrand, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Robert Bertrand, Hec Clouthier, Art Hanger, David Pratt, John Richardson.

In attendance: From the Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: Wolf Koerner and Michel Rossignol, Research Officers.

Witnesses: From the Department of Defence (US): Carolyn H. Becraft, Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defence, Personnel Support, Families and Education; Lt.-Col. William J. Huleatt, Associate Director, Office of Family Policy. From the Department of National Defence: Jim Jamieson, Director, Military Family Support, Canadian Forces Personnel Support Agency.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee resumed consideration of a Review of the Social and Economic Challenges Facing Members of the Canadian Forces -- Military Family Support Programs.

Carolyn H. Becraft made an opening statement and, with the witnesses, answered questions.

At 5:35 o’clock p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
