(Meeting No. 33)

THURSDAY, MARCH 12, 1998

The Standing Committee on National Defence and Veterans Affairs met at 9:15 o’clock a.m., this day, in Room 237-C, Centre Block, the Vice-Chair, Bob Wood, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Leon Benoit, Hec Clouthier, Judi Longfield, John O’Reilly, David Pratt, George Proud and Bob Wood.

Acting Members present: Jocelyne Girard-Bujold for Pierrette Venne.

In attendance: From the Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: Wolf Koerner and Michel Rossignol, Research Officers.

Witnesses: From the University of Ottawa: Professor Gilles Paquet. From Wilfrid Laurier University: Professor Terry Copp.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee resumed consideration of a Review of the Social and Economic Challenges Facing Members of the Canadian Forces – Social Contract.

The witnesses made opening statements and answered questions.

At 11:00 o’clock a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
