MEETING No. 72

Thursday, May 14, 1998

The Standing Committee on Justice and Human Rights met at 10:28 a.m. this day, in Room 371, West Block, the Chair, Shaughnessy Cohen, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Eleni Bakopanos, Shaughnessy Cohen, Paul DeVillers, Sheila Finestone, Paul E. Forseth, Derek Lee, John Maloney and John McKay.

Associate Member present: Chuck Cadman.

In attendance: From the Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: Philip Rosen, Senior Analyst, and Marilyn Pilon, Research Officer.

Witness: From the Department of Justice: Catherine Kane, Counsel, Criminal Law Policy Section.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108 (2), the Committee resumed a study of the Victims’ Role in the criminal Justice System (See Minutes of Proceedings of Tuesday, May 12, 1998, Meeting No. 68).

 

The witness made a statement and answered questions.

At 11:41 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
