MEETING No. 71

Thursday, May 14, 1998

The Standing Committee on Justice and Human Rights met at 9:16 a.m. this day, in Room 371, West Block, the Chair, Shaughnessy Cohen, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Eleni Bakopanos, Michel Bellehumeur, Shaughnessy Cohen, Paul E. Forseth, John McKay and Andrew Telegdi.

Acting Member present: Chuck Cadman for Paul E. Forseth.

In attendance: From the Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: Philip Rosen, Senior Analyst, and Marilyn Pilon, Research Officer.

Witness : From the Department of the Attorney General of British Columbia: Susanne Dahlin, Director, Community Justice Branch, Victims Services Division.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108 (2), the Committee resumed a study of the Victims’ Role in the criminal Justice System (See Minutes of Proceedings of Tuesday, May 12, 1998, Meeting No. 68).

The witness made a presentation and answered questions.

At 9:55 a.m., the Vice-President, Paul E. Forseth, took the Chair.

At 10:15 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
