Meeting No. 53

Thursday, April 15, 1999

The Standing Committee on Human Resources Development and the Status of Persons with Disabilities met in camera at 11:19 a.m. this day, in Room 705, La Promenade Building, the Chair, Albina Guarnieri, presiding.

Member(s) of the Committee present: Diane Ablonczy, Bonnie Brown, Hec Clouthier, Denis Coderre, Paul Crête, Libby Davies, Jean Dubé, John Godfrey, Albina Guarnieri, Larry McCormick, John O'Reilly, Maurice Vellacott and Bryon Wilfert.

In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Sandra Harder and Bill Young, Research Officers.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), consideration of Chapter 16 (Human Resources Development - Management of the Social Insurance Number) of the September 1998 Report of the Auditor General of Canada (See minutes of Proceedings of Wednesday, November 4th, 1998)

The Committee proceeded to consider the draft of its Fourth Report.

It was agreed that the Sub-Committee on the Status of Persons with Disabilities be granted $28,500 as previously requested and that the Sub-Committee on Children & Youth at Risk be granted $20,000 as previously requested.

At 1:18 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
