Thursday, April 2, 1998
The Standing Committee on Human Resources Development and the Status of Persons with Disabilities met at 3:48 o’clock p.m., this day, in room 308, West Block, the Vice-Chair, Bonnie Brown, presiding.
Members of the Committee present: Bonnie Brown, Brenda Chamberlain, Dale Johnston, Robert Nault and Byron Wilfert.
Acting Members present: Yves Rocheleau for Paul Crête, Yvon Charbonneau for Claudette Bradshaw.
In attendance: From the Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: Bill Young, Research Officer.
Witnesses: From the Air Line Pilots Association: Roman Stoykewych, Legal Counsel; Captain Dan Adamus, Legislative Affairs Chairman; Captain John Dunlop, President. From the British Columbia Maritime Employers Association: R.V. Wilds, President & CEO; John Wilcox, President and Chief Executive Officer, Neptune Bulk Terminals. From the Waterfront Foremen Employers Association: Grant A. Mebs, President & CEO; W.J. Weymark, President & Chief Operating Officer, Vancouver Wharves. From Cominco Ltd.: Jim A. The Committee resumed consideration of Bill C-19, An Act to amend the Canada Labour Code (Part 1) and the Corporations and Labour Unions Returns Act and to make consequential amendments to other Acts. (See Minutes of Proceedings of Tuesday, March 24, 1998, Meeting No. 19).
John Dunlop made a statement and, with Dan Adamus and Roman Stoykewych, answered questions.
R.V. Wilds and John Wilcox made statements and answered questions.
Grant Mebs, W.J. Weymark, Jim A. Utley and Garth Whyte made statements and answered questions.
At 5:53 o’clock p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
