The Standing Committee on Health met at 11:30 a.m. this day, in Room 371, West Block, the Vice-Chair, Ovid Jackson, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Elinor Caplan, Maria Minna.

Acting Members present: John Cummings for Maurice Vellacott, Bev Desjarlais for Judy Wasylycia-Leis, Keith Martin for Reed Elley.

Pursuant to Standing Order 81(4) , and the Orders of the House of March 1, 1999 and March 25, 1999, Main Estimates 1999 - 2000 under Health Canada and Report on Plans and Priorities for Health Canada (Sessional Paper No. 8520-361-201)

Marie Fortier, Robert Lafleur and Richard Jock made opening statements and with the witnesses answered questions.

At 1:30 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
