The Standing Committee on Health met in a televised session at 9:10 a.m. this day, in Room 253-D, Centre Block, the Chair, Joseph Volpe, presiding.
Members of the Committee present: Elinor Caplan, Reed Elley, Gurmant Grewal, Ovid Jackson, Maria Minna, Pauline Picard, Karen Redman, Rose-Marie Ur, Maurice Vellacott, Judy Wasylycia-Leis.
Acting Member present: Keith Martin for Gurmant Grewal; Lynn Myers for Dan McTeague.
In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Nancy Miller Chenier; Sonya Norris, Research Officers.
Witnesses: As Individual: Rabbi Reuven Bulka; Dr. John Yun, Oncologist; Dr. J.B. Dossetor; From the University of Rochester, NY: Dr. Aaron Spital, Associate Professor of Medicine, University of Rochester and Nephrology Unit; From the Medical Research Council of Canada: Dr. Francis S. Pursuant to Standing Order 108 (2), the Committee resumed consideration of its study on the State of Organ and Tissue Donation in Canada. (See Minutes of Proceedings dated Tuesday, December 1, 1998).
Rabbi Reuben Bulka, Dr. John Yun, Dr. J.B. Dossetor and Dr. Aaron Spital each made statements and answered questions.
At 10:40 a.m., the sitting was suspended.
At 10:47 a.m., the sitting resumed.
Dr. Francis S. Rolleston, Dr. Ruth Oliver, Dr. Eike-Henner Kluge, Dr. Robert F. Nelson and Dr. Michael Brear each made statements and answered questions.
At 12:10 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
