Meeting No. 32

THURSDAY, March 26, 1998

The Standing Committee on Health met at 11:07 o’clock a.m., this day, in Room 209, West Block, the Chair, Beth Phinney, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Carolyn Bennett, Elinor Caplan, Reed Elley, Grant Hill, Pauline Picard, Rose-Marie Ur, Judy Wasylycia-Leis.

Acting Member present: Christiane Gagnon for Maurice Dumas.

In attendance: From the Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: Nancy Miller-Chenier and Gérald Lafrenière, Research Officers.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee resumed consideration of natural health products. (See Minutes of Proceedings dated Thursday, November 20, 1997.)

Witnesses: As an individual: Dr. Michelle Brill-Edwards . From the Food and Consumer Products Manufacturers of Canada: Laurie Curry, Vice President, Public Policy and Scientific Affairs; Dr. Richard Black, Director, Scientific & Regulatory Affairs.

The witnesses made opening statements and answered questions.

At 12:29 o’clock p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
