The Standing Committee on Health met at 9:10 o’clock a.m., this day, in
room 209, West Block, the Chair, Beth Phinney, presiding.
Members of the Committee present: Carolyn Bennett, Aileen Carroll, Claude Drouin, Reed Elley, Grant Hill, Lynn Myers, Pauline Picard, Maurice Vellacott, Joseph Volpe, Judy Wasylycia-Leis.
In attendance: From the Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: Nancy Miller-Chenier, Research Officer.
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee resumed consideration of natural health products. (See Minutes of Proceedings dated Thursday, November 20, 1997.)
Witnesses: As an individual: Dr. Murray R. Hassard, Homeopath and Chiropractor. From the Ontario Federation of Homeopathic Practitioners: Barbara Etcovitch, Classical Homeopath. From the National Homeopathic Professional Association (NUPATH): Rudi Verspoor, President. From the Canadian Medical Association : Dr. Victor Dirnfeld, President; Dr. Anne O. Carter, Director, Health Programs. From the Chinese Canadian National Council: Jonas Ma, Executive Director.
The witnesses made opening statements and answered question.
At 12:13 o’clock p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
