The Standing Committee on Fisheries and Oceans met at 9:10 a.m. this day, in Room 269, West Block, the Chair, Charles Hubbard, presiding.

Member(s) of the Committee present: Yvan Bernier, Wayne Easter, Charles Hubbard, Nancy Karetak-Lindell, Gary Lunn, Carmen Provenzano, Lou Sekora, and Peter Stoffer.

In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Alan Nixon, Research Officer.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), Briefing on Fisheries management plans and licence buybacks.

Witness(es):From the Department of Fisheries and Oceans Canada: Liseanne Forand, Assistant Deputy Minister, Policy; David Rideout, Director General, Economic and Policy Analysis; Barry Rashotte, Acting Director, Resource Management, Fisheries Management; Heather James, Chief, Resource Management, Pacific.

Liseanne Forand and Barry Rashotte made opening statements and, with the other witnesses, answered questions.

At 11:00 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
