Meeting No 3

Tuesday, October 21, 1997

The Standing Committee on Fisheries and Oceans met in a televised session, at 3:35 o’clock p.m., this day, in room 253-D Centre Block, the Chair, George Baker, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: George Baker, Yvan Bernier, John Duncan, Wayne Easter, Charles Hubbard, Nancy Karetak-Lindell, Gary Lunn, Bill Matthews, Lawrence O'Brien, Carmen Provenzano, Paul Steckle and Peter Stoffer.

In attendance: From the Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: Alan Nixon and Claude Emery, Research Officers.

Witnesses: From the Department of Human Resources Development: David A. Good, Assistant Deputy Minister, Human Resources Investment Branch, Eugene Harrigan, Executive Head, Post-TAGS Review, Kenneth Kerr, Director, Policy and Design, Human Resources Investment Branch.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), consideration of The Atlantic Groundfish Strategy (TAGS) relating to Chapter 16 of the Report of the Auditor General of Canada, October, 1997.

David Good made an opening statement and with the other witnesses answered questions.

At 5:15 o’clock p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
