The Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Trade met jointly with the Standing Committee on National Defence and Veterans Affairs at 3:17 p.m. this day, in Room 371, West Block, the Chairs, Bill Graham and Pat O'Brien, presiding.
Members of the Committee present: Bill Graham, Bob Mills, Jerry Pickard, Julian Reed, Daniel Turp.
Associate Member present: Murray Calder, Aileen Carroll and Denis Paradis.
Members of the Standing Committee of National Defence and Veterans Affairs present: Robert Bertrand, Hec Clouthier, Gordon Earle, René Laurin, Pat O'Brien, John O'Reilly, David Pratt, David Price, George Proud, John Richardson.
In attendance: From the Parliamentary Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: James Lee; Corinne MacDonald, Research Officers.
Witnesses: From the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade: Jim Wright, Director General for Central East and South Europe. From the Department of National Defence: Lt-Gen Raymond R. Henault, Deputy Chief of the Defence Staff, OP ABACUS. From the Canadian International Development Agency: Hélène Corneau, Program Manager, Central and Eastern Europe Programme.
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee resumed its examination of the situation in Kosovo. (See the Minutes of Proceedings of March 31, 1999, Meeting No. 111.)
Jim Wright and Lt. General Raymond Henault each made an opening statement and answered questions.
At 4:10 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
