THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 26, 1998

 

The Standing Committee on Citizenship and Immigration met at 11:11 o’clock a.m., this day, in Room 269, West Block, the Chair, Stan Dromisky, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Jean Augustine, Sarmite Bulte, Stan Dromisky, Raymonde Folco, Jocelyne Girard-Bujold, Steve Mahoney, John N. McKay, Grant McNally, Réal Ménard, Maria Minna, Deepak Obhrai and Jacques Saada.

 

In attendance: From the Parliamentary Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: Margaret Young, Research Officer.

 

Witnesses: From the Department of Citizenship and Immigration: Brian Grant, Acting Director General, Enforcement Branch; Roman Borowyk, Director - Information Management, Information Management & Technologies Branch.

 

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee resumed consideration of Recommendation 155 of the Report of the Legislative Review Advisory Group entitled "Not just Numbers: A Canadian Framework for Future Immigration", particularly issues relating to removal and detention

 

The witnesses made statements and answered questions.

 

At 12:27 o’clock p.m., the Committee adjourned until 3:30 o'clock p.m. Wednesday, March 11, 1998.
