Meeting No. 57

Tuesday, November 17, 1998

The Standing Committee on Agriculture and Agri-Food met at 9:02 a.m., this day, in Room 269, West Block, the Chair, John Harvard, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Hélène Alarie, Rick Borotsik, Murray Calder, Denis Coderre, John Harvard, Howard Hilstrom, Jake Hoeppner, Larry McCormick, Denis Paradis and Rose-Marie Ur.

In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Frédéric Forge, Researcher and Jean-Denis Fréchette, Economist.

Witnesses: From the Crop Protection Institute: Charles D. Milne, Vice-President, Government Affairs. From the Canadian Horticultural Council: Danny Dempster, Executive Vice-President.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the committee resumed the "Take Note" Hearings on the Upcoming World Trade Organization (WTO) Negotiations on agriculture -- (See Minutes of the committee, of October 22, 1998, Meeting No. 50).

Charles D. Milne and Danny Dempster made opening statements and answered questions.

At 10:39 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
