THURSDAY, MARCH 26, 1998
The Standing Committee on Agriculture and Agri-food met at 9:12 a.m., this day, in Room 269, West Block, Joe McGuire, presiding.
Members of the Committee present: Hélène Alarie, Leon Benoit, Paul Bonwick, Rick Borotsik, Murray Calder, Denis Coderre, John Harvard, Joe McGuire, Paul Steckle and Rose-Marie Ur.
Acting Member present: Lorne Nystrom for Dick Proctor.
In attendance: From the Parliamentary Research Branch: Sonya Dakers, Research Coordinator.
Witnesses: From the Canadian Federation of Agriculture: Sally Rutherford, Executive Director; Kenneth Edie, Vice-President, Manitoba Pool Elevators. From the Canadian Horticultural Council: Ron Cameron, Chairman, Crop Protection Committee; Danny Dempster, Executive Vice-President.
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee proceeded with an information session on Pesticides Regulations.
Kenneth Edie and Danny Dempster made opening statements and, with other witnesses, answered questions.
At 11:00 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
