The Clerk of the Committee: Members of the committee, I see a quorum. Pursuant to Standing Order 107(2), your first item of business is to elect a chair. I am ready to receive motions to that effect.
Mr. Wayne Easter (Malpeque, Lib.): I move that Bill Graham be chair of the committee.
The Clerk: Is it the pleasure of the members of the committee to adopt the motion?
(Motion agreed to)
The Clerk: Mr. Bill Graham is duly elected chair.
Some hon. members: Hear, hear.
The Chair (Mr. Bill Graham (Toronto Centre—Rosedale, Lib.)): Thank you very much, colleagues and Mr. Easter. Whatever your budget requirements, just send them down to this end of the table.
Some hon. members: Oh, oh!
Mr. Wayne Easter: That's on the record.
The Chair: You'll get all the budget money you need to kill the seals that eat your fish.
Thank you very much, colleagues.
Our next business is the election of a vice-chair. I spoke to our former vice-chair, Ms. Whalen, this morning. She cannot be here, but she is willing to stand, if that is satisfactory to members.
Mrs. Judi Longfield (Whitby—Ajax, Lib.): I so move.
The Chair: Thanks, Judi.
(Motion agreed to)
Do we agree that the committee sit in camera?
Some hon. members: Agreed.
[Proceedings continue in camera]
