On Thursday, May 23, 2024, the Standing Committee on Science and Research adopted the following motion:
That, recognizing the importance of protecting our environment and the potential of technological advancements in recycling and biodegradability of plastics to reduce waste and emissions; pursuant to Standing Order 108(3)(i), the Standing Committee on Science and Research conduct a study on innovation, science, and research in recycling plastics; that the committee devote at least 12 hours to the study and report its findings to the House.
