THURSDAY, JUNE 8, 1995

The Standing Committee on Natural Resources met for a televised session at 9:11 o'clock a.m. this day, in Room 253-D, Centre Block, the Vice-Chairman, Guy Arseneault, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Guy Arseneault, Bernard Deshaies, John Loney, Lee Morrison, Julian Reed, George Rideout and Georgette Sheridan.

Associate Member present: John Solomon.

Other Member present: Nelson Riis.

In attendance: From the Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: Peter Berg and Jean-Luc Bourdages, Research Officers.

Witnesses: From the Department of Natural Resources: Maureen Monaghan, Special Advisor, Fuels Policy, Oil Division, Energy Sector. From the University of Lethbridge: George Lermer, Dean, Faculty of Management. From the Canadian Petroleum Products Institute: Brendan Hawley, Vice-President, Public Affairs; Bob Clapp, Vice-President, External Relations.

In accordance with Standing Order 108(2), a study of gasoline pricing.

The witnesses made opening statements and answered questions.

At 10:21 o'clock a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 11:38 o'clock a.m., the sitting resumed.

At 12:40 o'clock p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.


TUESDAY, JUNE 20, 1995

The Standing Committee on Natural Resources met in a televised session at 11:05 o'clock a.m. this day, in Room 253-D, Centre Block, the Chairman, Robert D. Nault, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Guy Arseneault, Bernard Deshaies, John Loney, Lee Morrison, Robert Nault, Julian Reed, George Rideout, Georgette Sheridan, Roseanne Skoke and Peter Thalheimer.

Other Members present: Brent St. Denis, Benoît Serré.

In attendance: From the Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: Peter Berg and Jean-Luc Bourdages, Research Officers.

Witnesses: From the Bureau of Competition Policy: George Addy, Director of Investigation and Research; Harry Chandler, Deputy Director of Investigation and Research. From QIS Solutions Inc.: Michael Ervin, President.

In accordance with Standing Order 108(2), a study of gasoline pricing.

George Addy and Michael Ervin made opening statements and, with the other witness, answered questions.

At 12:53 o'clock p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.


THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 21, 1995
(Meeting No. 67)

The Standing Committee on Natural Resources met at 10:07 o'clock a.m. this day, in Room 112-N, Centre Block, for the purpose of organization.

Members of the Committee present: René Canuel, Dave Chatters, Bernard Deshaies, David Iftody, Gordon Kirkby, Georgette Sheridan, Roseanne Skoke, Darrel Stinson, Chuck Strahl and Bob Wood.

Acting Members present: Murray Calder for Julian Reed, Bernie Collins for George S. Rideout, John Bryden for Alex Shepherd and Gilles Duceppe for Roger Pomerleau.

The Clerk of the Committee presided over the election of a Chair.

On motion of Georgette Sheridan, it was agreed,--That Gordon Kirkby take the Chair of the Committee as Chairman.

The Chairman took the Chair.

Gilles Duceppe moved,--That René Canuel be elected Opposition Vice-Chair of the Committee.

Dave Chatters moved,--That the election be conducted by secret ballot.

After debate, the question being put on the motion of Dave Chatters, it was, by a show of hands, negatived.

The motion proposed by Gilles Duceppe having been put, René Canuel was declared duly elected Opposition Vice-Chair of the Committee.

On motion of Bob Wood, it was agreed,--That Peter Thalheimer be elected Vice-Chair of the Committee.

After debate, it was agreed,--That the Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Natural Resources, George Rideout, be appointed to the Sub-Committee on Agenda and Procedure.

At 10:20 o'clock a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
